1. What is VoIP?

2. What do I need to start using VoIP?

To get VoIP calls you need the following equipment;
Internet Connection (Broadband connection 512k or higher)
Computer with soundcard and Headset or USB phone (a USB headset or phone will provide superior call quality), or
VoIP or SIP enabled device, or
Desk phone, some of which may need an adapter


3. What level of computer expertise do we need to get the system set up?
User friendly set up wizards and step by step guides are provided. If you already use a computer or surf the internet, you almost certainly have sufficient expertise. In any case, we also provide a friendly technical support service to help you.


4. What happens if the power fails?
Whilst nowadays, power cuts are relatively brief and infrequent in the UK, Internet calling, like cordless phones, requires a power supply. One way to resolve this is to get a Universal Power Supply or UPS backup powering your VoIP or SIP enabled device.

6. Can I take my number with me when I travel?
Yes. Wherever you are in the World, the person at the end of the call will be unaware of your geographical location unless you choose to inform them. You will give the impression of calling from whatever country and area codes match your number.

To do this you will need to buy a non-geographical number, for example you may have both a UK number for use with local contacts and a New York number for times when you may wish to give the impression you are calling from The USA.
